YOUR SITE MUST BE EASY-TO-USE The trouble with the phrase 'user-friendly' is that it hides a multitude of sins. Some site designers believe that happy, smiling caricatures, a gaudy background and an upbeat sales pitch put users in the mood to tolerate sloppy functionality, slow response and an interface that would take Einstein himself to figure out how it works. An attractive, welcoming appearance is, of course, essential. But, in our context, 'user-friendly' means more. It means, essentially, that when someone visits your site, they must be able to find what they want quickly and easily, that the site be so organised that the right information can be found by the logically-minded visitor and the intuitive surfer equally. As the online world grows out of its tecchie-smartie and too-cool puberty, marketers must face the fact that most of their target audience are new to the medium. Twenty-six per cent of people connected to the web arrived in 1997; these people are often unfamiliar with internet conventions and unprepared to invest a great deal of time in mastering its complexities. It is our challenge to make things easy for the user our potential customer. For more information on how Kupola can provide you with a site which feels right and works right, go here.
